Healthy Teeth; Healthy Body

May is National Physical Fitness Month, and we at Stefano Dental encourage all of our patients to not just maintain a healthy mouth, but try to get out there an workout or enjoy your favorite sport.

Dr. Klassen is an avid runner, joining many marathons. And Dr. Stefano workouts at a local gym at least five times a week, including running, yoga, walking and strength training. Even if you can't make a commitment for a long workout, try going on a walk during your lunchtime. Even 20 minutes of exercise, most days a week, can make a tremendous difference if you physical, mental and emotional well being.

Having a hard time getting started with an exercise program? Ask a friend or a neighbor to join you on a walk, or attend an exercise class together.

There are many classes to attend. Yoga, Pilates, strength building, walking, running, elliptical machines, step classes and stair climbing can a great way to rev up your cardiovascular system.

As you get older, you want to also incorporate muscle strengthening to your routine. Light weights or swimming are a great way to help build muscle toning.

Summer is upon us. Don't forget that our nearby lake and swimming pools provide an excellent option to get exercise over the summer vacation. Even a few laps can make a difference in your overall health.

So after you brush your teeth in the morning, think about taking a brisk walk, taking a splash in the pool, or joining an exercise class.

Stay healthy!
