Your First Visit
Excellence in dentistry begins with a careful diagnosis and a treatment plan to move us toward the goals we will establish together. Adult new patients are generally scheduled for an initial examination with the doctor, which will include a review of the hard and soft tissues related to your mouth. Necessary x-rays will be taken on each new patient to ensure proper diagnosis. This valuable information will enable us to determine the amount of time required for your professional cleaning, treatment, and further consultations. Each patient will have a mutually agreed upon treatment plan before proceeding further with dental care.

Children
Younger patients will be seen by one of our doctors, as well as the hygienist, and will receive a cleaning at the first appointment so he/she may become acquainted with our dental office environment. We encourage parents to bring their children in for their first examination between two and three years of age even if they just accompany their parent. We find that early morning appointments work best for children because they are more receptive to treatment during morning hours. Parents are welcome in the treatment room, although we do find that some children behave much better when parents are not present. The staff and parents can make this decision jointly.
Policies
X-rays
We understand patients' concerns regarding radiation. Protection is provided by utilization of a lead apron, state inspected equipment, and minimum safe exposures, including digital radiography. Radiographs will only be taken when necessary and to make a complete evaluation at the time of the examination.
Emergencies
A limited amount of time is available each day for emergencies. Please call us as early as possible so we may schedule an appointment to resolve your dental problem promptly. If you have a dental emergency after normal hours, please call the office at (419) 626-2205. We have after hours coverage.
Re-evaluation
The key to prevention and lower dental costs is regular dental check-ups. At your professional cleaning, we will determine how often you should have your hygiene visits and examinations. The frequency may vary depending on the overall health of your teeth and gums at each visit. We will mail you a note reminding you that it is time for your hygiene visit or prearranged appointment.
