Voting!

March 4th, 2020

With the Democratic Primary vote all a buzz this month. Voting is on a lot of people's minds.

We encourage everyone to vote as your civic duty. Women and persons of color were not allowed to vote not too long ago. Make it a point to honor the sacrifices of those brave individuals who gave so many of us the right to vote.

There are other votes taking place too. Albeit, not as serious, and not a civic duty at all.

But Stefano Dental would love to hear from you! Who's your favorite dentist? Please take a moment to vote. Sandusky Register is asking everyone to vote for their favorites.

And you can vote once, every day, through March 29, 2020.

Stefano Dental has amazing patients that we are thrilled to have be part of our community.

There are not many times you get to vote every day through out a month. We invite you to show your support for Stefano Dental, if you choose to.

Our practice has been part of the community for many years, and we're successful at making smiles because we believe in healthy smiles!

Please visit us twice a year for your regular dental check ups and don't forget our Veloscope screenings. Ask our team if you're a candidate for oral screenings.

Thank you in advance for your support and vote of confidence! We're here because you make it possible.

Happy Voting Day!

Velscope Screenings Give Back to Local Cancer Services

February 26th, 2020

From Mar. 1 to June 30, Stefano Dental is offering $20 Velscope exams, with 100 hundred percent of the proceeds going to our local cancer services. For more information, you can go to:

http://www.covingtonsmiles.com/velscope/fighting-oral-cancer-help-velescope-oral-cancer-screening/

Velscope is a scan for oral cancer. Many symptoms can occur to detect oral cancer. A dentist can detect oral cancer early. This is one of the many reasons that regular dental check up is important.

Symptoms of oral cancer can be:
- white patches in your mouth
- red sores in mouth
- bleeding gums
- loose teeth
- difficulty or pain swallowing
- lumps in the neck

Tobacco use is cause of oral cancer. This can be cigarettes, cigars, pipes, smokeless tobacco, chewing tobacco and others.

Velscope is an oral cancer screening device of the world. This system has a specialized light that will assist in seeing precancerous and cancerous lesions, even those that are not visible to the naked eye. This device also helps surgeons to decide on the appropriate surgical margins when surgery is indicated.

Velscope is a simple three-minute screening. The dentist uses a hand piece that emits a safe blue light and will cause the tissue to become fluorescent. If the color of the tissue is green, then the tissue is healthy. But if the tissue has any other color, then it is unhealthy. Ask your dentist about options of a biopsy and follow-up treatments.

If you have more questions about oral cancer screening, please ask our staff and give back to our local cancer services. Get healthy and give back!

A Morning Huddle

February 17th, 2020

How you start your day; is how you set the rest of your day. That one moment, minute or or hour before you get the day going, is sometimes, everything. We sometimes spend our mornings in a rush. But what if we slowed it down enough to take in the richness of a new day. A new start to another day that might seem like any other day, but this time might reveal something very different, very new, very wonderful.

At Stefano Dental, we start the day with a morning huddle. The Stefano Dental team gathers around and we discuss the day that is to come. We gather to inspire, to encourage and to rally each other to a wonderful day.

And in that morning huddle we simply say:  We ask for your help to heal the people entrusted to our care and bless them with the best outcome of which they are in need.

Entrusting ourselves to our best selves and to a higher power is so empowering for our team. Believing that together, we can do great things and surrendering to the idea that we are IN SERVICE to other's well-being is so gratifying.

In the healthcare, sometime we might get caught up in procedures and appointments, diagnoses and treatments. But in truth, we're dealing with human beings with families, and lives. People with goals and dreams and fears.

And so while in our care, we're not only treating oral mouth concerns, we're connecting and treating the whole person.

Thank you for entrusting us to your care!

Why You Shouldn't Skip the Dentist

February 11th, 2020

Stefano Dental loves to see its patients at least twice a month for cleanings. And why is that?

A thorough dental check up isn't just about making sure you have no cavities, no tartar, no plaque build up.

Nowadays, dentists are trained to look for symptoms that go far beyond basic dental care.

Mouth sores, and other symptoms can help detect diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, high blood pressure. Not to mention, dentists can help detect for oral cancer too.

Why is it important to invest in bi-annual teeth cleanings? By the time you have serious gum disease, it might be too late to either save a tooth or prescribe preventative treatment.

The preventive measure of bi-annual cleanings can help avoid much larger, long-term dental costs.

If you're avoided the dentist, because you don't want to pay for a cleaning or you think you don't need it, think about the amount of money you're saving by investing in this preventive check-up.

Remember, as we age, our oral health habits change, and our teeth change. It's important that you keep a regular pattern of check-ups for the youngest to the oldest.

Beautiful smiles are only part of the outcome of regular, bi-annual check-ups. The real pay off is the healthy smiles, and overall physical health too.

If you have questions about your oral health or the importance of cleanings, please ask our staff about it. We love to talk about teeth, gums and oral health.

We look forward to seeing you at your next cleaning!
