Dentistry to Leadership; Training Up the Next Generation

Dr. Lata Stefano recently went to McCormick Middle School to talk about leadership with 7th and 8th graders in the STAR Camp, a free leadership program for young teens.

Taking the time to share leadership skills with the next generation is part of Stefano Dental's mission to give back to the community.

STAR is a summer camp program designed for students who show leadership qualities in school. Students are selected at school via teachers, staff and counselors. Nominations for STAR camp primarily come from evidence of their positive social interaction, character, values and activities in and outside the classroom throughout the school year.

The STAR program is free and funded in part by levey funds from the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Erie and Ottawa Counties.

The four-day leadership program combines activities and games in group settings. Large and small groups center on getting to know individual strengths as as share and accept the values and individulaties of others.

Many students from the STAR program build relationships that go beyond the leadership program.

The STAR program is always looking for community leaders to speak to the students how community engagement, giving back and energizing the next generation is an important part of leadership.

Be an advocate for your local youth and find out how you can make a difference in your community.

Dr. Lata Stefano of Stefano Dental actively seeks out ways to make a difference in the Erie County community, and you can too!

Whether you're a dentist, accountant, police officer or any other type of job, you have an opportunity to share your leadership with others!
